Rapidly rising interest rates, ever-increasing rents and high inflation are dominating the news.
While most of us can cope by tightening our belts and forgoing a few luxuries, for many Australians, the cost of living crisis is having a devastating effect on their lives.
With average rents in many parts of Australia among the highest in the world, more and more people are finding themselves homeless.
Tonight, more than 122,000 people in Australia will not have a safe and secure place to live, including an increasing number of young people and older women.
I will be doing my part to help by attending the Vinnies CEO Sleepout as Icon Agency’s representative on 22 June at Sydney’s White Bay Cruise Terminal in Rozelle.
I am a member of the #HealthforHomeless team made up of people working in or for the MedTech and life sciences industries.
The Sleepout raises money for crisis accommodation, food, healthcare, counselling, education, employment, and support to find a permanent homes for thousands of people across the country.
I will be one of hundreds of business, government and community leaders sleeping out on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year (yes, okay it’s Sydney but…), gaining a small glimpse into the daily reality for tens of thousands of Australians.
Nationally, over $81 million has now been raised since the Vinnies CEO Sleepout first started 17 years ago in Sydney. This year’s fundraising goal is $8.7 million nationally.
I would love you to contribute to my efforts via a donation.
