Integrated communications agency Icon has taken top honours at the 2022 Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) Golden Target Awards, bringing home Gold as the Large Agency of the Year for the second consecutive year.
The victory headlines a fantastic night for Icon, which saw the growing agency win six awards, more than any other firm. Icon’s team was also recognised with silver for Agency Team of the Year.
Icon’s Still Six Lives campaign for the Red Nose Foundation won gold in the Government Sponsored Campaign category, recognising its impact on the prevalence of stillbirth in Australia. The campaign shared the three key behaviours that can help reduce the risk of stillbirth and implored Australians to make a lasting commitment to address the condition’s high prevalence across the nation.
Icon’s work on the Her Circle campaign for CARE Australia was awarded silver in the Influencer Campaign category. The campaign highlighted reasons women are more likely to live in poverty and solutions to help a woman escape poverty—and bring four members of Her Circle with her.
Icon Agency co-founder and managing director, Joanne Painter, was also awarded bronze for PR Leader of The Year, while Group Account Director, Niall Hughes, won silver for Professional of the Year.
Joanne Painter, said that the Golden Target Awards were a testament to Icon’s dedication: “We’re delighted to receive these awards, which recognise the exceptional work of our team. It’s an honour to be judged so highly and I’m immensely proud of the passion and commitment of each member of Icon, who bring their expertise to every client and project.”
Icon’s success is grounded in the agency’s new brand platform, ‘For people, with purpose.’
“Our accolades are a fantastic demonstration that purposeful work works. They are proof that purpose is not just a lofty ideal; it is a cornerstone of our success. Even more rewarding than winning awards is seeing the positive impact of our work on areas like stillbirth and poverty.”
In 2022, Icon celebrated its 20th birthday and opened The Content Garden, a production studio that supports the agency’s multidisciplinary and creative work.
