Integrated communications firm Icon Agency has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Business Excellence in The Australian Business Awards 2022. Now in its 17th year, the Australian Business Awards (ABA) are an annual all-encompassing awards program recognising organisations who demonstrate the core values of business innovation, product innovation, technological achievement and employee engagement.

“This award is a huge honour for Icon Agency. It’s fantastic to be recognised not only as one of Australia’s premier communications agencies but also as a leading business across all industries,” said Icon Managing Director, Joanne Painter.

“We’ve won three Agency of the Year awards over the past 12 months, but this accolade beyond our own sector is an achievement that places us at the forefront of Australian business and is a testament to the commitment, passion and ingenuity of our team.”
The award follows the launch of Icon’s new brand platform, ‘For people, with purpose’.

“Icon has always been a purpose-driven agency, and this brand platform doubles down on our commitment to purpose-led projects. This focus has spurred remarkable growth, earned numerous awards, and most importantly we know that our work has a positive impact.”

Icon continues to grow, expanding to more than 80 employees across three capital cities. The agency has recently bolstered its leadership with the additions of Gabrielle Gray as General Manager and Simon Hobbs as Executive Director of Digital.

“Three years ago, Icon had only 30 employees. Now, we have almost three times that, which is an astounding growth rate. It’s only possible through our commitment to purpose, which attracts like-minded people who are passionate about making the world a better place.”

“As we expand, we know the importance of building out our senior leadership with experienced people who can guide our rapidly growing team. Recent hires like Gabrielle and Simon will help us remain a premier communications agency and continue to push the boundaries of excellence.”

The award acknowledges Icon’s focus on technology and innovation.

“We pride ourselves on always being curious,” said Icon Co-Founder Chris Dodds.

“We’ve got one eye on the horizon, looking for future advancements that can improve our work. Whether that’s artificial intelligence, virtual reality, or the Metaverse, we recognise the importance of constantly striving to be better, and searching for tools that can assist us with that goal.”
